Weaning Support
Introducing solid foods while continuing to breastfeed is an important stage in your baby’s development. Many families have questions about when to begin, how solids fit alongside breastfeeding, and how feeding patterns may change during this transition. This session provides evidence-based guidance on introducing age-appropriate foods, recognising readiness for solids, and understanding how breast milk and complementary foods work together during the first year.
We can explore responsive feeding approaches, recognising hunger and fullness cues, and supporting a positive and relaxed mealtime environment. Guidance may also include introducing common allergens in line with current recommendations, discussing typical feeding behaviours, and identifying when additional support from other health professionals may be helpful.
The aim is to help families feel confident navigating the transition to complementary feeding while continuing to support a positive breastfeeding relationship.
